Frequently Asked Questions

Is microsuction safe for older adults?

Yes—when performed by trained clinicians using direct visualisation. It avoids water in the ear canal and is quick for most residents. As with any procedure, there are small risks (e.g., transient dizziness, discomfort) which we explain during consent.

Do residents need to do anything before the visit?

We may recommend a few days of olive‑oil spray beforehand to soften wax (unless contraindicated). We’ll supply simple pre‑visit guidance for staff.

Why microsuction over irrigation?

Microsuction removes wax under direct vision without water. It’s commonly used across NHS ENT and audiology services and is suitable where irrigation is contraindicated.

Are your clinicians vetted and insured?

Yes. All clinicians are appropriately qualified, insured and DBS‑checked, and we follow robust infection‑prevention protocols.

How quickly can you start?

We typically open new care homes within 7–14 days, with faster slots when needed.
